Experience. Integrity. Vision.
The city has many projects in the works that, once completed, will improve our infrastructure and quality of life for residents.
Here’s a list of some of them.
Boston Road / Kilmer St. Water Line Project (Grant-funded)
Water line project to replace aging lines is complete, and the roads have been resurfaced.
Generator Project at the Water Treatment Plant (Grant-funded)
The generator is on order, and we expect to receive it soon. In the meantime, we are working on the infrastructure to hold the generator.
Safe Streets and Roads for All Demonstration Project (Grant-funded)
The city is collaborating with a company on staging the demonstration projects (temporary traffic changes), which will mostly be on Lexington Street between Laval Heights and Woodford Plaza. The company is creating a survey, so we can get feedback from residents about these temporary changes. If they are worthy of pursuing as permanent changes, the city will apply for implementation funding.
Wilson Avenue Sidewalk Project (Grant-funded)
Design work has been completed, and a construction company secured. Work will begin later this year.
Crossfield Drive Repaving (Local Assistance Road Program - State)
Beasley Drive Multi-Use Path (Joint project with County)
Work has begun on this path at the intersection of Tyrone Pike, Falling Springs Bypass and Beasley Drive. The path will include an asphalt spur off the existing walking path that will run to the intersection. A multi-use path will run parallel to Beasley to a new crosswalk across Beasley and a new sidewalk in front of the Senior Center that will loop around to meet the existing sidewalk for the Recreation Center. This will make it safer for students walking from school to the Rec Center in the afternoons.
