My Work in City Government
As mayor, I:
-Successfully advocated for no data centers in Woodford County;
-Secured more than $700,000 in grant funding for city projects;
-Found a new tenant for the “old Kroger” building, which will be a family fun center and retail space;
-Spearheaded two projects to improve walkability on Wilson Avenue and Beasley Drive;
-Elevated “The District” with more community events than ever;
-Increased communication with residents (social media; city e-newsletter; “Two Minutes with the Mayor”);
-Prioritized public safety with a fully staffed police department, a new traffic unit and a new fire engine under contract.
While on City Council, I held leadership roles on the following committees:
Budget
Building Standards& Downtown Development
Downtown Revitalization
Housing Task Force
Streets, Stormwater & Cemetery
Sustainability;
Walkabilty
Water & Sewer
I started the bimonthly city newsletter “City Matters” and continue to write most of it.
I led the effort to use federal Covid relief funds for rent and utilities’ assistance. Nearly $230,000 was spent to support hundreds of people to prevent evictions during the pandemic.
